Church NewsAUGUST NEWSLETTER Update on Isn’t it great to enjoy our beautiful fellowship hall each Sunday and for special events? It is even more rewarding since we know that it is fully paid for and the church did not have to take on the burden of a mortgage for that to happen. However, we did have to utilize financial investments the church had in reserve in order to accomplish this goal. That is why it is so critical now to fulfill those three year long-term pledges that we committed to during the capital campaign for the building expansion. That three year timeframe started in January 2009 and will end December 31st, 2011. That means we have less than two years left on those pledge commitments. Here is our progress so far: Since January of 2010 we have received $12,170.00 in pledges towards the building fund. Of the $88,380 pledged, we have now received $59,547.00. We are over halfway, that is great…but the quicker we are able to replenish these funds the better it is for the long-term financial security of our church and the planning for the future of our church. Your continued support is greatly appreciated and valued. Dawn Collins, Finance Committee Chair Community Garden Update The garden is prospering! We’ll be harvesting cucumber, squash (both yellow and zucchini), peppers and tomatoes. Please help yourself to the produce. We’ll have them in paper bags so you can recycle the bags into the compost or bring them back for refilling! Any produce left will be given to Plant A Row (Kansas Food Bank). As you’re enjoying the produce, please consider making a donation either to Open Door or the Kansas Food Bank. Just make a notation on your check or cash works too! We continue to welcome compost items. Just watch for the sign as to which bin to add your items. Feel free to check out the garden and even pick your own veggies if you’d like!
